Softscan partners with ScanSafe to deliver Web Security-as-a-Service
Web Security Services now available for SoftScan’s European customers
ScanSafe, the pioneer and largest provider of Web Security-as-a-Service, has teamed with SoftScan, a leading supplier of managed email security services. Under the partnership, ScanSafe’s services are re-branded as SoftScan Web Security and are available to the company’s 7,000 corporate customers.“SoftScan has long been the leading provider of managed email security in Northern Europe,” said Eldar Tuvey, CEO, ScanSafe. “The addition of Web Security to SoftScan’s portfolio of managed email security is a natural fit, enabling SoftScan customers to enjoy effortless protection from zero-hour Web-based threats.”
As malware moves from the inbox to the browser, Web threats have become a significant pain point for businesses worldwide and are increasingly found on legitimate, trusted brand name sites. The ScanSafe Threat Center has reported numerous instances of sites unknowingly hosting malicious code including MySpace, Facebook, The India Times, Tom’s Hardware and others. In addition, uncontrolled Web surfing drains valuable bandwidth and exposes employees to inappropriate content.
“The dynamic and open nature of the Internet makes it easy for IT-criminals to exploit and they often hit where it is least expected,” said Diego d'Ambra, CTO, SoftScan. “With users frequently being led to infected websites through links in their email or instant messaging service, securing Web traffic is a priority. Particularly when you consider that even websites you trust can be carriers of malware - often through third party content."
The new SoftScan Web Security service requires no hardware, maintenance or upfront capital costs and delivers real-time scanning of Web and IM traffic. As a result, the service increases productivity, reduces bandwidth consumption and offers a lower total cost of ownership than hardware or software solutions. By removing the burden of maintenance and support, the service frees up internal IT resources to focus on other core projects.
